Welcome to this week's round of SFFS snippets. Sign up, and then enjoy the read on Saturday!

Please ensure that you do the following:
  1. Have the blog post live by 6 am BST (British Summer Time). Work it out if you're in a different time zone.
  2. Make the SFFS blog post clearly identifiable to readers (e.g. use "SFFS" in the heading, or some variant). It is preferable that the link you post to this list leads directly to the blog post, so that readers do not have to play 'hunt-the-snippet'.

  4. Keep the snippet's length to ten sentences or less. Any snippets found to be over ten sentences on the day will be summarily removed from the list (no email warning or requests to shorten).

Happy 2nd Birthday SFFS!

We thought we'd share with y'all that the SFFS blog ring is now two years old!

It amazes us, the SFFS Team, how this group keeps going week by week - even when we rarely find time to participate ourselves. Thank you to EVERYONE who has participated over the last two years, and made the group what it is today.

Featured Publication: Wardroids

Wardroids - J.M. Filipowicz

Another day, another pile of junk littering the workshop; that’s my life aboard the Destiny. I’m Emily, the designated fix-it chick. Wouldn’t be such a bad job if the crew would stop ogling me. Especially Commander Black, who just can’t get it through his head that we’re no longer together. That’s what I get being the only woman on this third-class space barge. Unless of course you count the wardroid, Thirty-two Eighty. Though a soldier drone refitted to be a sex slave isn’t exactly good company. The worst part is that I can’t remember my past, though the thought of it fills me with fear. Then, in the middle of the night, the wardroid grabs me and takes me to a dangerous planet, a war-torn world where no human in her right mind would ever go: Earth.

A science fiction novel available from:
Double Dragon Publishing
Amazon
iTunes
Lulu

Featured Publication: The Elf Queen

The Elf Queen - Lyndi Alexander

At her friend's coaxing, Jelani tries on a real glass slipper left lying on the sidewalk. When she steps into the shoe it shatters, cutting her foot. As blood trickles to the pavement and mingles with the broken glass, dozens of two-inch high creatures emerge and then scurry away into the shadows. As if that was not bizarre enough, soon she is approached by two mysterious and very handsome men claiming (of all things) to be elves who need Jelani's help to rescue their queen. More revelations come, threatening to unravel the life of this sassy barista from Missoula, Montana. Jelani must come to grips with the idea that elves are not just creatures from a fairy tale. They are alive and living in the forests of the Bitterroot Mountains....

A fantasy novel, available from Amazon and B&N.

The Brinded Cat - Chantal Halpin

Insurance claims worker, Sam, doesn’t want to do any more jobs for the Community. She just wants to fill in her nice, harmless forms. But when she is coaxed into rescuing a witch’s familiar from a tree, she finds her charge is more than an average kitty.

Faced with the option of handing him over to the authorities, she instead risks her liberty and flees across London with the witch hunters in hot pursuit. But for a change it seems the Latino pyromaniacs are not the most dangerous players in this game of cat and mouse.
