Lyndi Alexander

Who are you? I’m many people, actually—a daughter, a mother (of 7!), a pizza maker, a floral designer, a newspaper reporter, a lawyer, and now a novelist. Just depends where you caught me in my development period.

What genre/s do you write in? My first published novel, THE ELF QUEEN, was in urban fantasy, but I’m starting to write more in my first love, science fiction, and I’ve written a paranormal mystery. I also write romantic suspense and contemporary romance under the pseudonym Alana Lorens.

Why do you write? How can I not?

Planner or Pantser? Used to be a pantser while I was writing to get published for the first time. In 2012, I had six novels released by publishing houses, and I have six coming out in 2013, with more already contracted for the years beyond. I can’t afford to pants anymore—this is a real business now.

Where can we find you?

Twitter: none - no time for this when I’m writing so much

Upcoming releases? In March 2013, book four of the Clan Elves series, THE ELF GUARDIAN, will be released, as well as the first book of the Horizon Crossover series, HORIZON SHIFT, both from Dragonfly Publishing. I’m really looking forward to the debut of A SMALL DEGREE OF HOPE, my sci-fi, police procedural, reptile shapeshifter romance, hopefully by summer 2013.

What are you working on now? I'm finishing edits on a voodoo romance story set at Mardi Gras and also on WINDMILLS, the first book in my YA post-apocalyptic trilogy due out later this year. When I get tired of edits, I’m working on the first draft of a ménage sci-fi story with a shapeshifting alien that changes gender depending on which partner he/she’s with.

Personal Bio: Lyndi Alexander (aka Barbara Mountjoy) has been a published writer for over 35 years, including seven years as a reporter and editor at the South Dade News Leader in Homestead, Florida. She and her husband share seven children and eleven computers in a full house in northwestern Pennsylvania.

She writes science fiction and urban fantasy; her Clan Elves of the Bitterroot series (as Lyndi Alexander) is available from Dragonfly Publishing. Her reptile shapeshifter/police procedural/sci-fi romance A SMALL DEGREE OF HOPE debuts in 2013 from Lyrical Press. She blogs on a variety of subjects, including autism, science fiction and life at Awalkabout.

Triad - Lyndi Alexander

On the planet Induna, Trezanna Len leads the Solarii, a small colony of beings, human and otherwise, who believe in the right to pursue a peaceful life free from interference from others. She’d never intended to be the one people counted on, but after she’d been dismissed from her unit at Space Force, she’d drifted along till she found this place mostly populated with travelers from the Terran Diaspora. She’d been welcomed and made comfortable; now she believes the Solarii should do the same for others seeking shelter.

Of course, no situation is free from trouble. The thorn in Trezanna’s side is another group on the neighboring planet Miramar: Dragonfleet. Always contentious, this group has become even more aggressive after Estrella Drake’s ambitious climb to power. The unbalanced and self-centered Estrella has lost many of the former Dragonfleet members disillusioned with her petulant rule, including an organized splinter faction called the Khimeyr, who left five years ago.

Trezanna has been able to tolerate Estrella’s little incursions into her space, marking them up to the price to co-exist. The exercise keeps her pilots and fighters in good practice. This turns out to be a blessing when the well-armed Arkosian space pirates decide they’d like to take the sector that includes both Miramar and Induna. But Trezanna’s Solarii cannot handle this attack on their own.

The last time the pirates entered this area of space, Dragonfleet and the Solarii stood together to repel them, but that’s when cooler heads ruled at Miramar.

Help comes from a most unexpected source, but one with its own hidden agendas. Three women, Trezanna, Estrella and Catava Rolon, must work out their differences if they are to defeat the pirates and survive.

A science fiction novel available from Amazon and B&N.
