Guidelines

To join in, follow this blog or subscribe to its RSS feed. We also share on Twitter, using the #SFFSat hashtag. Participants can join our Facebook Group as well as on Google+.

Who are we looking for
You must be a writer, published or otherwise, with speculative fiction or poetry in your arsenal. You need to have a blog - with comments allowed - on which you will post your submission each week. Your submissions may contain writing at any stage of the writing process, from first draft to published.

Restrictions
  1. Absolutely no erotica or explicit content. This ring is for all ages to read. This is the founding reason for this ring, and any diversions will be removed from the final list on Saturday.
  2. Length of snippets:
    • Prose: 4 - 15 sentences.
    • Poetry: 4 - 15 lines.
  3. Any and all comments on the authors' work are welcome. However, this group is not intended as a critique group or a forum for correcting writers' snippets unless specifically requested by the author. The aim is to be a social group to share and enjoy our work.
Featured Publications and Mini Bios
If you wish to feature your publications on this site, email the cover, blurb and outlets to sffsat (at) gmail (dot) com. Each publication submitted will be featured on a Sunday determined by the Team. This is a facility for SFFS authors only. If you do not already have a Mini Bio on the site, that will need to be submitted along with the publication details.

The Mini Bios consist of answering several questions posed to you by the Team, an author photo, and your personal bio.

Important days, dates and times (or something like that)
  • Signup commences at 12pm BST (British Summer Time) or 12pm GMT (Greenwish Mean Time for winter) each Wednesday. There will be a blog post on this blog that provides you the opportunity to add your name and the URL of your blog (or the submission blog post) to the submission list.
  • Signup closes at 6am BST/GMT the following Saturday morning. All submissions need to be live on writer blogs by this point in time. A submission is a blog post on your own blog that  contains the story snippet or poetry that you wish to share with the group.
  • The list is then checked, and the final list (another blog post on this blog) goes live at 12pm BST/GMT on the Saturday. You will then be able to follow the links from this blog post to the submissions entered by writers in the ring.

For Saturdays, we do ask that the SFFS blog post is the first one available on your blog that day, so that people can find your submission - or that the link you provide leads straight to the post. This just helps to make the experience of SFFS more pleasant for readers and fellow writers.

Finally, the plan is that, every Saturday from 6am BST/GMT, you will have some great, contemporary speculative fiction or poetry entries to peruse and comment on as you wish.
