Who Are You? Peter Vialls – solicitor, writer, rolegamer and obsessive.
What genre/s do you write in? Fantasy with a tinge of science fiction – I tend to write material that doesn't fit easily into the typical fantasy genres.
Why do you write? I've always had too many ideas inside my head – if I didn't let them out, my head would explode. I like telling stories – I can't stop myself. It's an addiction. And since the current books I'm writing have a female hero, it's a heroine addiction.
Planner or Pantser? I do a rough plan of each book, but the characters conspire against me to go in other directions. Sometimes as I write I realise that there are unanswered questions that need dealing with. So really I'm a pantser, but I try to pretend otherwise.
Where can we find you? Facebook (Peter Vialls and also Sorrel in Scarlet), my blog and my website.
Latest Release? Sorrel Snowbound, the sequel to Sorrel in Scarlet, is launching as I type – it's just appeared in paperback form on Amazon, and the Kindle version should go live any moment now.
Upcoming releases? The final part of Sorrel's story, Sorrel in Silver, is under way – I've written about 10,000 words so far. My estimate is that it will appear in the latter half of 2014. And Impcatcher, my slightly more conventional urban fantasy, is currently with an agent for consideration.
Personal Bio: I'm married with two almost adult children. I'm a Cambridgeshire solicitor doing a variety of court work, but I use what little spare time I have to write fantasy and to play rolegames. I was a keen amateur actor for some years, taking part in over twenty plays, and I wrote and produced a Doctor Who stageplay, the Empress of Othernow, with my local drama group, which we performed to packed houses and some considerable acclaim. I've also written rolegaming material for various companies over the years. My ambition is to grow old disgracefully.
